Fonds wetenschappelijk onderzoek (FWO)

Populairwetenschappelijk schrijven

The Research Foundation Flanders requires researchers to write a popular article at the end of their PhD. To empower them to do so, we organized five science writing courses at the universities in Flanders, with 47 researchers participating. In collaboration with Eos Wetenschap, 41 blogs were published, of which some articles gained national media attention.

UAntwerpen (V&V)

Social media for science communication

SciMingo organized an inspiration session aimed at empowering individuals to engage with social media for science communication. The session targeted professors, assistants, and education coordinators within the Nursing and Midwifery Department at UAntwerpen. Participants learned how to craft effective posts and select appropriate platforms for their messages, as well as specific do's and don'ts for the most popular social media platforms.

SkinTERM

Video and Pitching

The Skin Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (SkinTERM) consortium aims to create a new generation of multidisciplinary trained scientists in the field of skin regenerative treatments. During a tailored video and pitching training course, nine researchers were trained to convey their research to a broad audience. Their pitches were professionally recorded during the annual meeting in Nijmegen.

*The SkinTERM project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 955722.

Presenting on stage

The sessions organized by SciMingo gave our researchers the opportunity to improve their skills in the field of science communication. From writing an inspiring article and creating a clear infographic about their research to improving their stage skills, all the different aspects of science communication were covered. An exciting experience that will help our young researchers to bring their research to the general public!

Inspiratiesessie social media for science communication

Video and pitching

"I am very grateful to SciMingo for this unique experience! From concept to recording, the team was so professional! They tailored each movie perfectly, ensuring it matched the researchers' unique pitches and key messages. Thanks to this training, researchers gained confidence, stepped out of their comfort zones, and felt assured their topics could make a difference as business or social impact cases, reaching audiences from Boomers to Gen Z!"

Video and pitching

"It was a true pleasure working with the SciMingo team! They created a tailored plan and provided step-by-step guidance for our twelve early-stage researchers. Thanks to Scimingo’s support and their expert feedback, the researchers gained confidence on camera and delivered compelling pitches. The final videos make our science projects both accessible and inspiring to a wide audience!"
